Box Score SAN FRANCISCO –  Marcus Williams tripled to lead off the top of the 12
th and scored on a single to center field by Zac Chuvala with what proved to be the game-winning run in Cal State East Bay's 5-4 extra-inning win over the SF State Gators this afternoon at The Swamp at Maloney Field.  The Gators had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the inning, but Brian Bynum stranded three Gator runners on base to preserve the Pioneer win. 
Cal State East Bay (28-17, 22-15 CCAA) took a 3-0 lead after three innings as Kelly Starnes had two lead-off doubles and scored two of the Pioneers three runs.  In the third, Starnes had a double and went to third on a bunt single by Marcus Wise.  Starnes scored when Wise was tagged out in a run down.  With two outs, Brandon Alexander had a single and stole second.  He scored on a two-out single by Ryan Kochan. 
The Pioneers, who are currently sixth in the NCAA Division II West Region, added another run on a Daniel Carney run scoring single in the sixth inning that brought in Alexander with the fourth run of the game. 
SF State cut the deficit to 4-3 with a three run sixth inning. 
Carter Loud and 
Grady Espinosa had back to back singles to lead off the inning.  
Mark Lindsay then walked to load the bases with no outs.  Loud scored the Gators' first run on a sacrifice fly by 
Garrett Heisinger to cut the Pioneer lead to 4-1.  With two outs and runners on second and third base, 
Joe Chedid hit an infield single that Espinosa scored on which the Pioneers threw away that Lindsay scored on to cut the Gator deficit to 4-3.
Espinosa's two-out double in the seventh brought in Loud with the tying run after Loud reached on a two-out walk. 
SF State had a chance to take the lead in the eighth inning.  Heisinger had a lead-off and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by 
Matt Vera.  He was stranded there at second as Brian Bynum retired the next two batters. 
Both the Gators' 
Taylor Wade and Bynum pitched scoreless ninth innings to send the game into extra-innings. 
The Gators (21-26, 16-21 CCAA) had another chance to win the game in their half of the eleventh.  
Danny Souza had a lead-off single, went to second on a sacrifice bunt by 
Fernando Escobar.  Souza then tried to score on a single to center field by 
Dillon Meyer ,but was thrown out at home on a throw by Kelly Starnes.  
Bryce Cherry was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second.  Bynum induced the next Gator to ground out to a fielder's choice to keep the game tied at 4-4. 
In the Pioneer 12
th, Williams had a lead-off triple and scored the game-winning run on a single by Chuvala to increase their lead to 5-4. 
SF State had a chance to tie the game in its frame of the twelfth.  Lindsay, who finished 3-for-5, had a one-out single.  He went to second on a single by Heisinger.  Vera then was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Then on the next play, Souza had an infield single which Heisinger was called out on runner's interference.  Bynum (2-1) induced the next Gator to fly out to right field to give the visitors a 5-4 victory. 
Bynum pitched 4.1 scoreless innings of relief, giving up four hits.  Nick Hudson started the game for the Pioneers, pitching 7 innings, giving up 10 hits and four runs (three earned), striking out one and walking two. 
Starnes and Alexander each had three hits for the visitors to lead the way for their hitting attack. 
Taylor Wade (4-1) recorded his first loss of the season, pitching 6 innings of relief, giving up four hits and one run.  
Ryan Romero started the game, pitching six innings, giving up nine hits and four runs while striking out two. 
Five Gators had multiple games in Meyer, Loud, Espinosa and Heisinger with Lindsay with three hits on the day. 
The two teams will return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon in Hayward, Calif., for a noon starting doubleheader at Pioneer Field on Cal State East Bay's campus.  
The series will move back to SF State this Sunday, May 3 for a noon starting regular season finale at The Swamp at Maloney Field.  Prior to the game at 11:45am, the Gators will recognize their six seniors in
