Box Score SAN FRANCISCO –Kevin Johnson scored what proved to be the game-winning goal ten minutes into the second half as the SF State Gators won their 2014 regular season home opener this afternoon 1-0 over the visiting Holy Names University Hawks.
 
The Gators outshot the Hawks (1-2) 15-13 including 10-4 in shots on goal with Johnson recording a team high four shot attempts.  Nick Harb and Sam Merritt each had three shot attempts for the hosts.
 
In his first collegiate match as a Gator, Daniel Boyer recorded four saves en route to the shutout. 
 
SF State will return to the pitch in Billings, Mont., this weekend as the Gators participate in the MSUB Classic.  The Gators will face Colorado Mesa this Friday at 2pm local time in a First Round match-up.
