Women's Basketball SF State Sports Information

@SFState_WBB Returns Home This Weekend For a Pair of CCAA Contests

SAN FRANCISCO – The SF State women's basketball team looks to remove the disappointment from last Saturday's game and take their frustrations out on Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A.  The Gators and Toros will square off on Friday at 5:30 p.m.  The Gators wrap up the short home stand taking on the Golden Eagles on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.  Both games will feature live stats and live video.

The Gators enter this game with an overall record of 0-14 which includes a 0-10 mark in the CCAA.  The Gators wrapped up a four game road trip falling to host Chico State 67-40 before falling to Cal State Stanislaus 70-68 in a heart breaking game that had the Gators leading by 15 at the half.

As a team, SF State averages 56.4 points per contest which is 12th in the CCAA, they are shooting 35.0 from the field which is also 12th in the conference.  Two players are scoring in double figures for the Gators led by senior forward Michelle Sutton who averages 11.2 points per game, and freshman forward Savannah Camp who averages 10.0 points per game.

Senior forward Leticia Galarza had her best game in the losing effort against Cal State Stanislaus.  Against the Warriors she tallied a career-high 23 points off the bench for SF State, 16 coming in the first half.  She finished the night going 8-for-14 from the floor, including 3-for-6 from behind the arc.

Cal State Dominguez Hills enters Friday's contest with an overall record of 13-5 and are 8-2 in the CCAA which is good enough for second in the conference standings.  They have won four of their last five contests with their lone loss coming at home against UCSD last Saturday.  As a team, they average 69.8 points per game which is fourth in the conference.  They are shooting 37.4 percent from the field which is ninth in the CCAA.  Their opponents are averaging 61.8 points per game and are shooting 36.9 percent from the floor.  Four players average in double figures for the Toros, leading the squad is junior guard Breanne Garcia who averages 14.3 points per game.

The Golden Eagles enter this weekend's contest with an overall record of 6-8 and are 5-5 in the CCAA.  As a team, they are averaging 63.1 points per contest which is ninth in the conference, while shooting 37.8 from the floor which is eighth in the CCAA.  Their opponents are averaging 65.8 points per game and are shooting 37.9 percent from the field.  Junior guard Kaija Powell leads the squad in scoring, she averages 12.3 points per contest.
