SAN FRANCISCO--- The SF State Gators will continue their four-match home stand this weekend with their final two home matches of the regular season. They will host Cal State San Bernardino this Friday, October 23 at 3pm and then No. 17 Cal Poly Pomona comes to town for a 2pm starting match on Sunday, October 25. Prior to the match on Sunday, the Gators will recognize their nine seniors in

Gerry Cruz,
Kevin Esquivel,
Sam Merritt,
Cory Rodas,
Joe Rousseau,
Max Talbert,
Daniel Totays and
Jakob Velega in a brief ceremony.
The Gators are coming off a 0-2 weekend as they lost 1-0 to Cal State L.A. and 2-1 to then ranked No. 6 Cal State Dominguez Hills. With dropping both of their matches last weekend, SF State is now 5-6-3 overall and 1-5-3 in the CCAA which places them in a tie for 10
th place with Cal State San Bernardino.
SF State is still alive for the six-team CCAA Soccer Championships which starts on Nov. 3 at the sites of the higher seeds. The top two seeds will receive a first-round bye and advance to the Semi-finals which will take place on Nov. 6 on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona. The championship match is set for Nov. 8. Heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, the top six teams are Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State L.A., Cal Poly Pomona, Stanislaus State, UC San Diego and Sonoma State.
In their match against Cal State L.A. last Friday, the Gators outshot their opponents 16-12 while reach team recorded four shots on goal. The Golden Eagles scored the game-winning goal in the 79
th minute off a missed shot.
Emmanuel Jimenez had three saves in goal for the hosts.
Then on Sunday, SF State took a 1-0 lead on a free kick by
Ashley Watson in the 35
th minute but the Toros scored two unanswered goals in the second half including the game-winner in the 53
rd minute. Jimenez had one save in goal for the Gators in the first 59 minutes while Boyer also had one save in the final 31 minutes of the match.
For the season, the Gators are averaging 0.75 goals a match while they are giving up 0.81 goals a match. Merritt, Velega and
Armando Flores are tied for the team lead with two goals apiece. Merritt and Flores each have a team high five points. Watson and Jimenez each have two assists to lead the Gators while Merritt has a team high two game-winning goals.
Jimenez has seen the majority of time in goal with a 0.73 goals against average, 41 saves and 4.5 shutouts in 11 matches. Esquivel has posted a 1.59 goals against average with 9 saves and 1.5 shutouts in three matches. Boyer has posted a 0.00 goals against average with four saves and one shutout.
In the recent CCAA statistics that were released on Monday afternoon, the Gators as a team are in the top two in shutouts (tied for 1
st-7) and goals against average (2
nd, 0.81). Merritt is tied for sixth in game-winning goals while Jimenez is first in saves percentage (0.837), shutouts (tied for 3
rd), saves (5
th) and wins (tied for 7
th). SF State is also 21
st in the nation in goals against average and Jimenez is 14
th in saves percentage.
The Gators will first host Cal State San Bernardino this Friday, Oct. 23 at 3pm. The Coyotes come into the match with a 3-6-3 overall record including a 1-4-3 record in the CCAA. They have lost three in a row including both of their matches last week 2-1 in overtime at Cal Poly Pomona and 2-1 at home to Chico State.
Luca Falcone and Tony Lo each have a team leading 11 points with Lo leading the way with his five goals. Falcone has a team high three assists and has one of the Coyotes' three game-winning goals. Mike Warn has posted a 1.52 goals against average with 26 saves and one shutout in 7 matches in goal for the Coyotes. Ivan Sanchez has a 1.80 goals against average with 20 saves in six matches.
Cal Poly Pomona comes into this weekend with an 8-1-3 overall record including a 5-1-2 record in the CCAA. The 17
th ranked Broncos will first face Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday afternoon in Seaside before coming to San Francisco on Sunday. Christian Gonzalez Diaz leads the way for the Broncos with his 16 points with a team leading six goals. He is tied with Sergi Monso each with four assists.
Fernando Pablo Quevedo has posted a 0.90 goals against average with 20 saves and two shutouts in 9 matches for the Broncos. Jason Trejos has played in four matches in goal for Cal Poly Pomona with a 1.03 goals against average, 12 saves and one shutout.
After this weekend's matches, the Gators will end their regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31 with a 4:30pm starting match at Chico State.
