@SFState_MBB To Host CSUS and Chico State in Final Home Games This Weekend

Gators Will Host Chico State This Saturday

SAN FRANCISCOThe SF State Gators will return home for the final time this 2014-15 regular season for a pair of CCAA games this weekend.  SF State will entertain Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State this Friday and Saturday, February 20 and 21.  Tip-off for both games is set for 7:30pm PST.  Prior to the Gators' game on Saturday, SF State will recognize its three seniors in Sam Colmenero, Bren Haley and Udun Osakue.

The Gators are coming off a 1-1 weekend at home to improve their record to 9-13 overall and 7-11 in the CCAA.  SF State defeated UC San Diego 65-56 on Friday evening before a packed house on "Gold Rush".  Then last Saturday, the Gators lost in overtime 64-57 to Cal Poly Pomona.  They are still in the hunt for a CCAA Championship Tournament berth with four games left in the regular season.  The top six teams in the CCAA at the end of the regular season on February 28 will receive a spot in the CCAA Basketball Championship Tournament which begins on March 5 in Stockton, Calif.

Udun Osakue leads the team with his 15.5 scoring and 5.5 rebounding averages along with his 40 steals, 35% shooting from three's and 54.4% shooting from the field.  Bren Haley has a team leading 109 assists and shooting a team high 78.6% from the charity stripe while AJ Kahlon has blocked 18 shots to lead the Gators.  Derrick Brown is second on the team with his 9.3 scoring average, but leads the team with his 27 three's made.

The Cal State Stanislaus Warriors, who went 0-2 last week on the road, are the Gators' opponent on Friday.  They are currently 14-9 overall and 11-7 in the CCAA.  Chris Reed leads the team with his 12.0 scoring average while Wes Bartole is averaging at team leading 7.0 rebounds per game.

SF State will entertain Chico State this Saturday evening Senior Night. The Wildcats come into this weekend with a 17-6 overall record and a 14-4 record in the CCAA.  They went 1-1 last weekend on the road and had their 10-game winning streak snapped at Humboldt State.  Robert Duncan leads Chico State with his 13.7 scoring average followed by Jordan Semple's 11.0 points per game average.  Semple leads the team with his 8.8 rebounding average. 

After this weekend, the Gators will be back on the road for their final two games of the 2014-15 regular season.  SF State will travel to Cal State L.A. on Friday, February 27 and then on Saturday, February 28 the Gators will be in Carson, Calif., for their regular season finale against Cal State Dominguez Hills.
