Liz Wyrsch went out winners, defeating Chico State 61-53 Saturday night at the Main Gymnasium at the Don Nasser Family Plaza.
SF State (1-23/1-19 CCAA) had three players in double figures on Friday night, led by
Jasmine Flanagan who scored 15, going 4-for-9 from the floor, she also grabbed nine rebounds. Seniors Sutton and Galarza finished in double figures as well. Sutton scored 14 while Galarza tallied 13. Fellow senior Wyrsch finished the night with four points and three rebounds. Â
Brittaney Allison had a fantstic game, scoring nine points, while adding five rebounds and dishing out a game-high seven assists.Â
The Gators came out in the opening half on fire. SF State shot 40 percent from the floor in the first half and 41.2 percent from three point range, going 7-for-17. The Wildcats (9-15/6-14 CCAA) scored the game's first bucket, but the Gators responded going on a 12-2 run. During that stretch all three seniors that suited up scored a bucket.

Jasmine Flanagan connected on a three from the top of the key to give the Gators a 16 point lead, it was her second three point bucket in less than a minute.
Sutton hit a three from the corner with 7:50 in the first to give the Gators a 19 point lead, going up 28-9 that was their largest lead of the night. Chico State went on a run to close out the half down nine, 31-22 following a three point bucket by Whitney Branham.Â
The Wildcats committed 13 turnovers in the first half, leading to six points for the Gators. But their work in the paint and on the fast break is what set up the open looks from deep.Â
Leticia Galarza led the Gators at the break with nine points, going 3-for-4 from three point range.
After the break the Gators led by as much as 14 with 11:25 following a layup by Galarza. The Wildcats cut the lead to as low as five twice, the last following a layup by Ashtyn Anderson. However, the Gators were able to put the game on ice with their stellar free throw shooting. SF State was 10-for-10 from the charity stripe tonight and hit all 10 of them over the final 2:57.
Chico State was led by Branham who scored 13 on the night. Joining her in double figures was Michelle Walker who recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Wildcats owned the glass, grabbing 49 rebounds on the night leading to 20 second chance points.
The Gators return to action on Friday, when they travel to Los Angeles to take on Cal State L.A. at the Eagles Nest. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.Â
