@SFState_MBB To Finish Off Regular Season in Los Angeles

SAN FRANCISCOThe SF State Gators will finish off their 2014-15 regular season this weekend with a pair of conference games in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.  The Gators will take on the Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles at the Eagles Nest in Los Angeles this Friday, February 27.  Then the next evening, SF State will travel to Carson to face the Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros at the Torodome.  Tip-off for both evenings is set for 7:30pm PST.

SF State is coming off a 1-1 weekend in its final two home games of the season. The Gators defeated Cal State Stanislaus 59-47 this past Friday as Andre Jones had a game high 15 points.  He was one of three Gators in double digits with Udun Osakue scoring 12 points and Derrick Brown adding 10 points off the bench. Point guards Bren Haley and Sam Colmenero combined for 9 points, 12 assists and 2 steals for SF State in the victory.

Then on Saturday in Senior Night, the Gators lost 65-57 to Chico State despite Andre Jones' 16 points.  Bran Haley added 15 points (all on three-pointers) while he dished out 7 assists and recorded two steals.  Prior to the game, SF State recognized its three seniors in Colmenero, Haley and Osakue.

SF State is now 10-14 overall and 8-12 in the CCAA, which places the Gators in a tie with Sonoma State for eighth, place (one game out of seventh place).  They are averaging 59.4 points per game while giving up 62.8 points per game.  SF State is out-rebounding its opponents 30.0 to 29.5. 

Osakue leads the way with his 15.0 scoring and 5.5 rebounding averages along with his 43 steals and 52.5% shooting from the field.  Haley has dished out a team leading 125 steals (which is 8th on the Gators' all-time single season list).  The senior point guard also leads the team with his 78% shooting from the line and is tied with Jones and Derrick Brown each with 29 three's made.  Jones leads the team with his 35% shooting from three's and AJ Kahlon has a team high 21 blocked shots.

Cal State L.A. is 9-15 overall and 7-13 in the CCAA after going 0-2 on the road against Cal Poly Pomona and UC San Diego.  The Golden Eagles, who are in 10th place, are averaging 59.1 points per game while giving up 63.7 points per game.  LaBradford Franklin leads the way with his 9.3 scoring average, 66 assists and 38 steals.  Joel Brokenbrough is averaging a team high 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting a team high 45.9% from the field. 

The Gators defeated Cal State L.A. 69-60 on January 24 in San Francisco behind the duo of Osakue and Brown. Osakue scored a game high 22 points while Brown added 20 points for SF State.  Haley dished out 9 assists and scored 7 points for the victors.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is 6-20 overall and 2-18 in the CCAA, which places them in 12th place.  The Toros went 0-2 this past weekend on the road against UC San Diego and Cal Poly Pomona.  They are averaging 61.1 points per game while giving up 68.7 points per game.  CSUDH is out-rebounding its opponents 34 to 33.7.  Ivan Dooley leads the way with his 11.7 scoring average with Justin Sadler right behind him at 10.8 points/game.  Darnell Martin leads the team with his 7.0 rebounding average.

SF State defeated the Toros 66-60 on January 23 in San Francisco behind Jon McMurry's season high 16 points off the bench.  Osakue added 13 points for the victors and Jones chipped in 11 points, also off the bench.  Haley had 7 points and just one turnover and three steals while scoring 9 points (6-for-6 from the charity stripe).
