SAN FRANCISCO– The SF State Gators' men's soccer team will have three matches this week including two California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) road matches.  The Gators will begin their week with a non-conference match as SF State will host Holy Names this Tuesday at 3pm.  SF State will begin their CCAA season on the road this weekend with a pair of matches at Stanislaus State and Cal State East Bay.

The Gators started their season with three straight shutouts, the first time in school history that a SF State men's soccer program started their season with three straight shutouts.   SF State had its three-match winning streak snapped in the Gators' 1-0 overtime loss at Academy of Art this past Saturday.  This was the first time since 1946, the Gators had started the season with a 3-0 record.

The 3-1 Gators went 1-1 last weekend with a 3-0 win over Dominican (Calif.) and 1-0 loss to Academy of Art in the Kezar Classic at San Francisco's Kezar Stadium.  In their win over the Penguins last Thursday, Joe Rousseau scored what proved to be the game-winning goal off a long ball from Emmanuel Jimenez.  The other two goals came from Jakob Velega and Max Talbert with Robert Kelly, Ayden Bowers and Nigus Solomon all assisting on the two goals.  Jimenez had two saves in goal for the Gators.

For the season, Velega leads the way for SF State with his two goals while Sam Merritt, Talbert and Rousseau each have scored one goal apiece.  Bowers, Kelly, Solomon, Merritt and Jimenez each have recorded the five assists for the Gators.  Jimenez has posted a 0.24 goals against average in goal for the Gators with three shutouts and 10 saves.

In the recent CCAA statistical report that was released this morning, five categories are in the top ten in the conference in seven categories.  Velega is tied for sixth with his two goals while he is tied for fourth with his game-winning goal with Rousseau and Merritt.  Jimenez is leading the league with his three shutouts and 0.24 goals against average while he is second with his .909 saves percentage.  The junior goalkeeper is also tenth with his 11 saves.  The Gators as a team are leading the CCAA with their 0.24 goals against average and three shutouts.

Jimenez is also 8th in the nation with his goals against average and is tied for 13th in saves percentage.  As a team, the Gators are tied for 4th in shutout percentage, 5th in goals against average and 10th in saves percentage.
