@SFState_MSOC To Begin Three-Match Road Trip this Weekend

SAN FRANCISCO--  The San Francisco State Gators will be back on the road for their next three matches beginning this Friday, October 14 in Arcata, Calif., for a 3pm match with Humboldt State.  The Gators will also travel to Rohnert Park this Sunday, October 16 for a 11:30am starting match with Sonoma State.

Coming into this weekend, the Gators are 6-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the CCAA after going 0-1-1 in their two home matches last weekend.  San Francisco State lost 2-1 to UC San Diego this past Friday despite holding a 1-0 lead heading into the 78th minute.  This past Sunday afternoon, the Gators tied 1-1 with Cal State San Marcos. 

Heading into the final three weekends of the regular season, the Gators are in 9th place in the CCAA standings (actually 8th with Cal State San Marcos not eligible for the post season this season.  The top six teams at the end of the regular season on October 30 receive a bid to the CCAA Soccer Championships, Nov. 1, 4-6. 

UPDATE ON THE GATORS;  San Francisco State is 6-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the CCAA.  The Gators are 5-2-1 in matches at home and 1-3 on the road.  They are averaging 1.25 goals a match while giving up 0.75 goals a match.  San Francisco State has recorded 5 shutouts while being shutout four times this season.

LEADIN' LEON:  Richard Leon leads the Gators scoring with his 5 goals and 11 points.  He also has one assist.  He is second in the CCAA with his three game-winning goals, 5th with his 5 goals and 6th with his 11 points. 

SWITCHIN' ROLES:  Richard Leon and Andy Altamirano switched roles this weekend in their two matches at home.  On Friday, Leon assisted on Altamirano's goal in 30th minute against UC San Diego. Then on Sunday, Altamirano assisted on Leon's goal in the 9th minute against Cal State San Marcos.

JIMENEZ IN GOAL:  Emmanuel Jimenez has been in goal for the Gators in all but 14:34 this season.  He has posted a 0.74 goals against average with 4.5 shutouts and 5 wins this season.  Kyle Harmina was goal for the final 14:34 of action in their 1-0 win over Chico State.  The senior goalkeeper is tied for fourth in the CCAA in shutouts (4.5), fifth in goals against average and 8th in saves (33).

STILL IN THE HUNT:  The Gators are still in the hunt for the CCAA Soccer Championships which begin on November 1.  San Francisco State is in the 8th spot heading into the final three weeks of the regular season.  The Gators are just two points out of the sixth and final spot with four matches left for San Francisco State.  The top six spots are held by Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State L.A., UC San Diego, Sonoma State and Cal State Dominguez Hills. 

FINAL 4 CCAA MATCHES:  Beginning with this weekend, San Francisco State will just have four conference matches left in the 2016 regular season.  The Gators will be at Humboldt State and Sonoma State this Friday and Sunday, October 14 and 16.  They will then be off a week and return to the pitch to host Cal State East Bay on October 27 and Stanislaus State on October 29.  San Francisco State will have one non-conference match too this season on October 24 at noon at UC Santa Cruz.

UPDATE ON THE LUMBERJACKS:  Humboldt State is 3-6-1 overall and 1-5 in the CCAA.  The Lumberjacks are led by Johan Muliadi's two goals while Max Steinmetz has one goal, two assists and four points.  Christopher Cherms and Robert Quintero has shared time in goal this season.  Quintero has a 1.77 goals against average in 7 matches and Cherms has a 0.94 goals against average in 8 matches.

SEAWOLVES IN REVIEW:  Sonoma State is 5-2-4 overall and 4-1-1 in the CCAA with Andrew Ogilvy and Armando Coronel leading the way with three goals each while Gabe D'Ambrosio has a team high three assists.  Mitch North has posted a 0.67 goals against average with 43 saves and 4 shutouts in the Seawolves' first 11 matches. 

UP NEXT:  After this weekend, the Gators will be off until October 24 at noon, when they travel to Santa Cruz to face the Banana Slugs of UC Santa Cruz.
