@SFState_WVB Looks To End Streak In Southern California

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State women's volleyball team looks to end its nine match losing streak on the road this week.  The Gators will travel south to take on UC San Diego and Cal State San Marcos on Friday and Saturday.
 
San Francisco State (1-12/0-5 CCAA) is coming off an 0-2 weekend, The Main Gym at the Don Nasser Family Plaza has not been kind to the Gators in 2016, SF State is 0-7 at home.  Last weekend, the Gators fell to visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A. 
 
By The Numbers
As a team, SF State ranks 12th in the CCAA in attack percentage, hitting .145.  They are 13th in opponent's attack percentage, with their foes hitting .283.  They are 13th in the league in kills per set average 10.07, meanwhile their opponents are averaging 14.02 kills per frame.
 
Gator of the Week
Senior setter Linda Aerne was named the San Francisco State Gator of the Week, last weekend, Aerne played her match wearing the purple and gold.  Against the Toros on Friday night, she recorded her first career double-double, tallying 44 assists and 10 digs.  She also had three aces and two kills in the match.   For the year, Aerne has tallied 351 assists, averaging 7.80 assists per set.  She also has 11 service aces and 68 digs.
 
Service Up Aces
Junior outside hitter Christine Johnson is having a monster year from the service line.  She is currently second in the CCAA with 21 aces and second in the league averaging 0.47 aces per set.  Against the Toros she tallied a career-high nine service aces.

5249About The Tritons
UC San Diego enters Friday's contest with an overall record of 8-5 and they are 5-0 in the CCAA.  At RIMAC Arena they are 4-3.  The Tritons have won four in a row, including two on the road last weekend over Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay.  As a team, they are averaging 13.4 kills per set and hitting .196.  Their opponents are averaging 12.6 kills per set and hitting .169. 
 
Who To Watch
Senior opposite Meagan Wright leads the team with 215 kills, she averages 4.13 kills per set.  Wright was named the CCAA Player of the Week on Sept. 6 and was also named to the CUI Labor Day Weekend All-Tournament Team.  Last weekend, she posted back-to-back double-double's against CSUEB and CSUMB.  She wrapped up the week with 25 kills, hitting .236 with 26 digs.
 
Series Versus The Tritons
All-time Gators are 6-22 against the Tritons, the series dates back to Sept. 12, 1981 when UCSD defeated the Gators 2-0.  Currently the Gators are riding a two-match winning streak against the Tritons.  Last time out, the Gators defeated UC San Diego 3-1 at RIMAC Arena on Oct. 12.

Cal State San Marcos enters this weekend's contest with an overall record of 9-5, in the CCAA they are 2-3, at home they are 4-2 this season.  As a team, CSUSM is averaging 13.1 kills per set while hitting .189, their opponents are averaging 11.6 kills per set while hitting .169. 
 
Who To Watch
Three players are averaging better than 2.30 kills per set, leading the team in kills is outside hitter Madi Anderson.  Anderson averages 2.91 kills per set and has thrown down 137 kills on the year.  Last weekend, she tallied a double-double against Cal State Monterey Bay, recording 16 kills and 16 digs.  For the year, she has recorded 10 or more kills in 10 matches.
 
Series Versus The Cougars
A newcomer to the CCAA, the Gators are 2-0 all-time against Cal State San Marcos, in series that originated in 2015. Last season, the Gators went 2-0 winning both halves of the season series.  Last time out, the Gators defeated the Cougars in straight-sets 3-0 in San Marcos.
