Box Score CARSON–   Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros took this weekend's three-game series with the visiting SF State Gators with a 9-0 series finale win over their guest this afternoon at Toro Field in Carson, Calif. The Toros recorded a five-hit shutout this afternoon as they took the series 2-1.

The score was scoreless until the Toro third.  Brady Conlan had a two out single and came home on Miquel Castaneda's double.  Cal State Dominguez Hills doubled its lead in the fourth on another two-out RBI, this time off the bat of Nick Morelli a tripe that drove in Shawn Sweeney.

Cal State Dominguez Hills (7-8, 2-4 CCAA) added an insurance run in the fifth and then the Toros broke the game open with a six-run sixth inning.  Johnny Palmer's bases clearing triple was the big hit in the inning as the hosts took a 9-0 lead heading into the final three innings.

Joe Chedid (1-2) took the loss in the start for SF State as he pitched three innings, giving up four hits and one run, striking out one and walking two. Luke Laurita (1-1) picked up the win in the start for the Toros, pitching six scoreless innings of two-hit ball, striking out two and walking one.

Myles Franklin had two of the Gators' five hits on the day as they fell to 8-8 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA.

"We flat out got beat today," said SF State head coach Tony Schifano.  "We pitched behind in the count, we didn't make plays on defense and we didn't execute at the plate."  "It was not a very good effort today."

The Gators will look to get back on the winning track this Friday, March 11 when they begin a home-away four-game conference series with Bay Area rival Cal State East Bay.  The two teams will start the four-game series on Friday with at 2pm at SF State's Maloney Field.
