@SFState_MSOC To Host CSUMB and Chico State To Begin CCAA Play

SAN FRANCISCO–- The San Francisco State Gators will look to extend their winning streak this week as they host Cal State Monterey Bay and Chico State in a pair of CCAA matches.  The Gators will face the Otters this Wednesday, September 14 and the Wildcats this Friday, September 16.  The starting times for both matches are set for 12:30pm at Cox Stadium.

The Gators, under the direction of first-year head coach Javier Ayala-Hil, captured the Golden Gate Classic this past weekend as they recorded two shutouts over Holy Names (1-0) and Academy of Art (5-0).  Richard Leon connected on an unassisted goal in the 98th minute for the golden goal in Thursday's 1-0 overtime victory over Holy Names.  Emmanuel Jimenez posted one save in goal for the Gators.

Ranier Plantinos scored two goals and recorded two assists in the Gators' 5-0 win over Academy of Art this past Saturday afternoon.  Also scoring goals for San Francisco State were Andy Altamirano, Jonny Villeda and KJ Ahlo while Altamirano and Villeda also had assists.  Jimenez had three saves in goal for the victors while recording his third straight shutout.

For the season, the Gators are scoring 2.00 goals a game while giving up 0.25 goals a game.  Plantinos leads the way with his six points (two goals and two assists) followed by Leon and Villeda with four points.  Leon is tied with Plantinos for the team lead in goals with two while Plantinos is tied with Villeda for the team lead in assists with two.  Three other Gators have scored at least a goal this season in Villeda, Altamirano, Ahlo and Jordan Wusstig.

Jimenez has recorded a 0.24 goals against average with a .909 saves percentage. The senior goalkeeper has recorded a 3-1 record with three shutouts this season.  He is currently 13th in the nation in goals against average and 19th in saves percentage. 

In the recent CCAA statistics report that was released this morning, Plantinos is fourth with 6 points and Villeda is 9th with four points.  Plantinos is also tied for fourth with Leon each with two goals while Villeda is tied with Plantinos for fourth each with two assists.  Jimenez leads the league with his goals against average and shutouts.

Going into their match this afternoon at Academy of Art, Cal State Monterey Bay is 1-1 defeating Notre Dame de Namur 3-2 and losing 3-2 in overtime at Fresno Pacific.  Adam Voloder leads the team with his three goals and Duce Bell has a team leading three assists.  Andrew Garcia has posted a 2.48 goals against average with a .722 saves percentage.

Chico State will enter their match with the Gators on Friday with a 1-2-1 record in its first 5 matches of the season.  Omar Nuno has scored all four of the Wildcats' goals this season.  Damion Lewis has posted a 1.18 goals against average with 12 saves and a .708 saves percentage.

After this weekend, the Gators will begin a season long four-game road trip next week with a pair of matches at Cal Poly Pomona (Sept. 23) and Cal State San Bernardino (Sept. 25).
