SAN FRANCISCO–  The No. 16 San Francisco State men's basketball team will return home to host two California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) games this Friday and Saturday, January 13 and 14 at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza.  The Gators will host No. 11 UC San Diego this Friday and Cal State San Bernardino this Saturday.  Tip-off for both evenings is set for 7:30pm.

The Gators are coming off a 2-0 road conference weekend in which they defeated Cal State L.A. 89-70 and Stanislaus State 65-50.  With their two wins, the Gators improve to 13-1 overall and 6-1 in the CCAA.  They are tied with Chico State for second place in the conference, one game behind UC San Diego. 

In their win at Cal State L.A. this past Thursday, Coley Apsay paced the Gators with a game high 19 points.  Apsay also had a career high six rebounds and six assists to go along with his two steals.  Derrick Brown added 16 points while Ryne Williams and Jash Kahlon each had career nights with 15 points and 11 points.  Junior guard Warren Jackson chipped in 11 points for SFSU, who as a team dished out 18 assists and turned the ball over just eight times.

Then on Saturday night in Turlock, the Gators held the Stanislaus State Warriors to just 37% shooting from the field including 22% from three-point while forcing 21 turnovers.  Three Gators scored in double digits led by Derrick Brown's 16 points.  Nick Calcaterra chipped in 12 points while Coley Apsay added 11 points for the victors. 

No. 16 SFSU will first face No 11 UC San Diego this Friday in a battle of nationally ranked teams at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza.  The Tritons are 13-2 overall and 8-0 in the CCAA after also going 2-0 on the road in the CCAA.  They defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 54-50 in Seaside and Cal State East Bay 52-47 in Hayward.  Adam Klie leads the way with his 14.1 scoring and 6.9 rebounding average.  Chris Hansen and Christian Oshita are also averaging double digits with their 13.6 and 10.1 respective scoring averages.

Saturday, the Gators will host the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes.  Going into their game on Friday game at Sonoma State, the Coyotes are 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA after losing 80-67 at home to Chico State on January 6.  Everett Turner leads the way for the Coyotes with his 12.2 scoring average followed by Khleem Perkins' 11.9 average.

After their game on Saturday, SFSU will return to the court on Wednesday, January 18 in San Bernardino as they face Cal State San Bernardino.  The Gators will host Sonoma State in a rematch from the December 9 game when SFSU defeated the Seawolves 65-63 in San Rafael.  SFSU and Sonoma State will face each other on Saturday, January 21 at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza.  

GAME NOTES
GATORS:  The Gators are now 13-1 overall and 6-1 in the CCAA which ties them for second place with Chico State.  They are averaging 81.4 points per game while giving up 65.9 points per game.  SFSU is also out-rebounding its opponents 38.2 to 35.1.  The Gators are led by the trio of Warren Jackson, Coley Apsay and AJ Kahlon.  Jackson is averaging 15.1 points per game and has a team leading 58 assists.  Apsay is averaging 13.4 points per game while shooting a team best 50.8% from three's, 90.5% from the line and recording a team leading 40 steals.  AJ Kahlon is averaging a double-double with 10.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.  He also has a team high 32 blocked shots while shooting a team best 63.2% from the field.
 
52-24:  The Gators are a perfect 5-0 at home this season, which improves their record to 52-24 at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza during Coach Paul Trevor's time on the sidelines. 

26-3: San Francisco State is 25-3 since the beginning of the 2015-16 in games they have scored 70 points or more including going 9-0 this season. 

RANKED NATIONALLY: As a team, the Gators are ranked nationally in five team statistical categories in the top five. Three Gators in Coley Apsay, Warren Jackson and AJ Kahlon are in the top 35 in eight categories.

GATORS 1105-1098:  SF State has been playing basketball since the 1929-30 season and is 1103-1099 all-time. Seventh-year head coach Paul Trevor is currently 95-81 for a 53.9% winning percentage. Dan Farmer is the all-time winningest coach at 357-211 during the 1932-57 seasons. Trevor is fourth in winning percentage (.539) at SF State and fifth in wins (95).
 
MOVIN' ON UP:  AJ Kahlon is third with his 61 total blocked shots in Gatorland career lists..  Derek Flecher is second with 80 which he did from 2006-10. Lawrence Williams is the all-time blocked shot leader at SFSU with 222. Kahlon's 32 blocked shots this season tied for 7th with Brad Visman and Dave Thoni.  Next up for Kahlon will be Derek Fletcher and Everett Johnson who are tied for fifth with 36.  Coley Apsay's 40 total steals places him 10 away from moving into the top 10 in the single season list.  Also his 33 three's made this season is 18 away from the top ten. 
 
 NO. 11 UC SAN DIEGO: SFSU will first host the No. 11 UC San Diego Tritons this Friday, January 13.  The Tritons are 13-2 overall and 8-0 in the CCAA and are on a six-game winning streak since losing 101-84 to nationally ranked Western Washington on Dec. 12, 2016.  They are averaging 68.2 points per game while giving up 64.4 points per game.  UC San Diego is out-rebounding its opponents 35.2 to 31.8 rebounds per game.  Adam Klie is one of three players averaging double digits in scoring with his 14.1 ppg.  He also has a team high 70 assists while grabbing 6.9 rebounds per game.  Chris Hansen is averaging 13.6 ppg while Christian Oshita is averaging 10.1 ppg.  Hansen leads the team with his 48% shooting from the field and 12 blocked shots.  Scott Everman is shooting a team high 95.2% from the line and has connected on a team best 19 three-pointers.  The Tritons lead the all-time series with SFSU 19-14.  They have won three of the last four meetings including sweeping both games last year 73-48 in San Francisco and 76-73 in overtime in La Jolla.

CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO COYOTES: The Coyotes are 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the CCAA heading into their game at Sonoma State on Friday night.  They are averaging 68.3 points per game while giving up 68.1 points per game.  Everett Turner leads the way with his 12.2 scoring average, 31 assists and 20 steals.  Khleen Perkins is next on the team with his 11.9 scoring average while Phil Reed is averaging a team high 6.5 rebounds per game.  Blake McBride is shooting a team leading 47% from three-point land.  CSUSB leads the all-time series 34-9, but the Gators have won three of the last four meetings including both games last year 76-70 and 74-57.
 
NEXT UP FOR THE GATORS:  SFSU will travel to San Bernardino on Wed., Jan. 18 for a rematch with CSUSB.  The Gators will return home on Sat., Jan. 21 for a rematch with Sonoma State.  SFSU defeated the Seawolves 65-63 on Dec. 9 in San Rafael behind Nick Calcaterra's game high 19 pts.
