@SFState_WBB Takes On Coyotes And Seawolves

SAN FRANCISCO – The San Francisco State women's basketball team will play a split road and home schedule this week.  The Gators begin the week on the road against Cal State San Bernardino on Wednesday.  They wrap up the week hosting Sonoma State on Saturday.  Both games will start at 5:30 p.m.
 
SF State enters this week with an overall record of 2-14 and are 0-9 in the CCAA.  Though the Gators are currently riding a season-long 10-game losing streak, they are playing some of their best basketball of the season right now. 
 
As a team, the Gators area averaging 53.9 points per game and shooting 35.7 percent from the field.  Their opponents are averaging 63.2 points per game and shooting 40.8 percent from the field.  SF State is averaging 34.3 rebounds per contest, they are averaging 3.8 blocks per game and 7.5 steals per contest.
 
Last weekend, the Gators went 0-2 at home, falling to UC San Diego 65-55 before falling to Cal State San Bernardino 56-52.  Against the Tritons, SF State was led by the duo of Lauryn Catching and Kaitlin DaDalt who scored 13 points and 12 points respectively.  Against the Coyotes, DaDalt led the Gators with 11 points, while Kayla Watterson and Donae Moguel both grabbed 10 rebounds.

Cal State Monterey Bay enters Wednesday's game riding a three-game winning streak.  They are 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the CCAA.  At Coussoulis Arena they are 2-1 this season.  As a team, the Coyotes are averaging 62.6 points per game and shooting 37.6 percent from the floor.  Their opponents are averaging 62.9 points per game while shooting 36.4 percent from the field.
 
Who To Watch
Senior forward Mya Johnson was named the CCAA Player of the Week for her efforts last week.  In two games, she averaged 24 points and 12.5 rebounds.  Against the Gators last Saturday night, she scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 12 boards.  For the year, she leads the Coyotes averaging 14.9 points per game.
 
Series Versus The Coyotes
All-time the Gators are 18-25 against Cal State San Bernardino.  The series dates back to Dec. 16, 1989 when the Coyotes defeated the Gators at home 65-54.  Last time out, the Coyotes defeated the Gators at home 56-52.

Sonoma State enters this week with an 8-7 overall record, in the CCAA they are 4-5.  They are currently riding a two-game losing streak after falling to CSUSB and UCSD at home last week.  As a team, they are averaging 69.1 points per game and shooting 42.0 percent from the field.  Their opponents are averaging 65.2 points per game and shooting 38.9 percent from the field. 
 
Who To Watch
Three players are averaging better than 10 points per game for the Seawolves this season.  Leading the team is sophomore guard Kylie Kiech, who averages 14.9 points per contest.  Last weekend she averaged 18.5 points per game.  Against the Gators earlier this year she scored 12 points while grabbing eight rebounds.
 
Series Versus The Seawolves
The series against Sonoma State dates back to the 1981-82 season when the Gators defeated SSU 72-52.  All-time the Seawolves own a 42-32 advantage in the series.  Last time these two teams squared off was on Dec. 9 this year when the Seawolves defeated the Gators 66-46 at the College of Marin.  Lauryn Catching led the Gators with 12 points that contest, Imani Smith added 10.
