SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco State Baseball's
Matthew Hernandez has earned a pair of weekly honors for the week of Feb. 12-18. He was named both the CCAA Pitcher of the Week and the NCBWA West Region Pitcher of the Week.
Hernandez was dominant in his first win of the season, a 4-1 upset at No. 7 UC San Diego in both teams' CCAA opener. The senior struck out a career-high 12 batters in the and scattered six hits with one unearned run in six innings of work. The Gators went on to split the four-game series with UCSD.
This is the second weekly honor for Hernandez from both the NCBWA and the CCAA, which both bestowed the honor April 24-30, 2017, after Hernandez needed just 98 pitches for a complete-game shutout. He struck out a then-career-high eight batters.
