CHICO, Calif. - After leading the San Francisco State volleyball team to a pair of big wins this past weekend, Payton Jensen has been named the CCAA Player of the Week for September 23-29, the conference announced this morning.

The sophomore came up big for the Gators as they defeated Stanislaus State in three before outlasting Chico State in five. Jensen began the week with a 41-assist performance with three aces and three kills in the sweep of the Warriors, and followed with a career-high 57 assist performance in the five-set thriller over Chico State to give her 98 helpers over the weekend. Her 41-assist contest is the second-most assists recorded in a three-set contest this season in the CCAA, and her 57 dishes are tied for the second-most in the conference this year. The Burbank, California native has recorded 40 or more assists in seven contests this season.

Jensen is the second Player of the Week winner for SF State in just as many seasons as Bailey Johnson took home the award last year. The Gators are off to their best start since 2012 and are coming off of an 8-1 homestand. The Purple and Gold are back in action tonight as they travel to Turlock, California for their first CCAA road match of the 2019 campaign.
