CHICO, Calif. — Three San Francisco State baseball players have been named to the 2019 All-CCAA baseball team. Jack Harris has been named to the Second Team while Jack Higgins and Harley Lopez garnered Honorable Mention.
An honorable mention last season, Harris is third on the team with a .321 batting average. He has appeared in 40 games with 36 starts, mostly in center field. His .540 slugging percentage is the most on the team who meet the minimum and his 89 putouts on defense are the most by a Gators outfielder.
Higgins has posted a 5-4 record with a 4.44 ERA in 11 appearances with 10 starts. His 50 and two thirds innings pitched are the second most on the club. He struck out a career-high seven in a loss to Cal State San Bernardino and struck out half a dozen two other times.
For a second consecutive season, Lopez earns an all-conference nod as a utility player. Lopez is tied for sixth in the CCAA with eight home runs. Of those six, he has the second least number of at bats. In 41 games with 39 starts, Lopez is batting .252. Lopez has split most of his time at first base and in the outfield and has a .982 fielding percentage.
This is the seventh consecutive season that San Francisco State has had at least two players selected to the all-conference team. The Gators will be making back-to-back appearances in the CCAA Championships, earning the fifth seed this season. In a repeat of last year's first-round matchup, San Francisco State will again face Cal State Monterey Bay in the first round of the CCAA Championships. First pitch is set for Wednesday, May 8 at 3 p.m.
