WBB | Stephanie Perez tabbed as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

SAN FRANCISCO — Stephanie Perez has been named assistant women's basketball coach at San Francisco State, announced Head Coach Natasha Smith.

"Stephanie is a competitive energy giver who has learned the business from well-respected coaches in our conference," said Smith. "Her background in coaching and as a person will have an immediate impact on the trajectory of our program."

Perez joins SF State from Seattle University, where she was the women's basketball team's graduate assistant from 2019 to 2021. At the same time, she also held roles at Seattle as a graduate coordinator for University Advancement, as an assistant equipment manager, and as a marketing assistant lead for the MSBL program. She has also served on the Diversity & Inclusion Board of the Women in Sports Events (WISE) Seattle chapter.

Perez played college basketball for two seasons at Los Angeles Trade Tech College, where she was the starting point guard. She transferred to UC Santa Barbara, where she served as lead team manager for the women's basketball program.

"I am honored to join the SF State women's basketball program and would like to thank Coach Smith for this great opportunity," said Perez. "I cannot wait to get in the gym and work with a great group of young women and help them compete at the highest level!"

The East Los Angeles native is bilingual and graduated from UC Santa Barbara with her BA in Psychology and a Minor in Applied Psychology, as well as a Sports Management Certification. She earned her Masters in Sports Business Leadership from Seattle University.
