Join the Alumni Association and SF State historian Mark Sigmon for a fun-filled virtual history lesson about America's favorite pastime, a sport that's reflective of the cultural heritage and social themes of the times.
Topics include Octavius v. Catto (baseball player and activist), Hank Greenberg and the 1934 pennant chase, the New York Giants relocation to San Francisco, Richie Ashburn and the 1962 New York Mets, the current pennant race and much more. A live Q&A session will follow.

Mark Sigmon joined SF State's History department in 1995. He teaches U.S. history classes including the very popular "HIST 479 - History of Baseball" course. An outstanding educator, SF State has awarded Sigmon the annual Excellent General Education Teaching Award, the History Department's 2013 Teaching Award, and the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2019.
