Hall of Fame
A 1961 graduate of San Francisco State, Theodore "Ted" Treu was born in Seattle, Washington and grew up in Burlingame, California. He attended Burlingame High School, College of San Mateo, and San Francisco State. Ted excelled at football at BHS, CSM and SF State, later playing semi-pro football for the Redwood City Ramblers. Ted was a proud member of the Burlingame High School Hall of Fame and he was elected to SF State's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001, as well as the Gridiron Hall of Fame as an all-conference defensive end on the 1959 undefeated championship team.Â

Ted was a sales and marketing executive in the travel industry, working for United Airlines, Delta Airlines, Aloha Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and American Express. Ted's leadership was instrumental in developing tourism in Hawaii as both a sales executive and an ambassador for the state of Hawaii.Â

While working at Hawaiian Airlines, Ted competed in seven Ironman Triathlon World Championships on Hawaii's Big Island from the ages 46 to 52, in addition to countless hours spent training. One of Ted's proudest moments was in 1988 when he completed the Ironman with his oldest son, Lonnie, and friend, Bill Gough.
At the age of 80, Ted passed away on May 1, 2018 after complications due to advanced Dementia.
