The Gators finally broke through with a run in the top of sixth as Alyssa Esquibel (San Jose, California, Archbishop Mitty) knocked in Lauren Candia (San Francisco, California, University of San Francisco), who came in to pinch run after Kelsey Wood's (San Jose, California, Lynbrook) one-out double to left.
Seawolves starter Lindsay Emmel (15-9) went the distance, limiting SF State to four hits while striking out 10 batters and walking one. Ashley Jackson (Vallejo, California, St. Patrick-St. Vincent) (16-10), meanwhile, absorbed the loss after giving up three runs on eight hits and two walks.
