Gators Defeat Otters, 6-1

Kevin Dultz Recorded the Win Today for the Gators Striking Out 4 Batters while Going 3-for-5 at the plate for SF State
SAN FRANCISCO--- Kevin Dultz (Altadena, California, Glendale Community College), Nick Nyman (Susanville, California, Lassen College) and Drew Andersen (William Penn University)went a combined 6-for-14 with two runs batted in and three runs scored to key SF State's 6-1 non-conference win over the visiting Cal State Monterey Bay Otters this afternoon at Maloney Field on the campus of SF State. Dultz (2-0) also picked up the victory as he pitched two scoreless innings while giving up no hits and striking out four and walking one.
 
Ryan Williams (Woodland, California, Yuba College)drove in the first run of the game with a single through the left side which scored Drew Andersen (Gilroy, California, William Penn University)to give the Gators a 1-0 lead in their half of the first inning. SF State scored two more runs in its half of the second as Nyman drove in two-runs on a two-out double to right center which scored Matt Quintero (San Gabriel, California, University of San Francisco) and Ben Mielke (Arcata, California, Shasta College).

The Gators had a no-hitter going into Cal State Monterey Bay's half of the fifth inning when Joey Friedman opened the fifth with a double to left field. He later scored on a sacrifice fly by Ronnie Fhurong. 
 
SF State added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-out RBI single by Geoff Downing (Half Moon Bay, California, New Mexico State University) which scored Andersen. The Gators (8-11) added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to make the final 6-1 SF State.
 
Patrick Fletcher (0-1) picked up the loss for the Otters (5-16), pitching three innings, giving up five hits and three runs while striking out two and walking two. Five Gator pitchers combined to give up just three hits and one run while striking out 11 batters and walking four. 
 
Besides Dultz, Kyle Pfeiffer (Palo Cedro, California, Shasta College) also pitched two scoreless innings while striking out four and walking just one. 
 
Nyman had two doubles for SF State in addition to his two runs batted in and Quintero also had two hits for the Gators, who will return to the diamond this weekend for a four-game CCAA series in Pomona, California, against the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos. The four-game series will begin with a 2:30pm starting nine-inning game This Friday.
