Fresno, Calif. – The SF State track and field team traveled south to participate in the Run For The Dream Meet hosted by Fresno State on Monday evening. Highlighting the day was
Tiana Wills winning the high jump, along with
Michelle Chung's provisional mark in the weight throw.
"This was a great day for a number of our athletes," said interim head coach
Tom Lyons. "Michelle's provisional mark in the weight throw, Alex' shot put, Jazmine' pole vault, and Hilary's long jump were all big improvement."
Chung competed in two events, the shot put and the weight throw. In the shot put she placed ninth overall with a distance of 10.71 m (35' 6.75"). However, it was her performance in the weight throw that was the third best mark in school history. She finished the day with a throw of 16.02m (52' 5.75") which was a provisional qualifying mark.
Also competing in throwing events was
Alex Jones who placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 11.46m (37' 7.25") which was good enough for fifth place all-time at SF State. She placed 13
th in the weight throw with a distance of 11.34m (37' 2.50").
Ariana Luster and
Symone Ramirez also competed in the shot put. Luster finished 10
th with a distance of 10.67m (35" 1.75") while Ramirez finished 11
th with a throw of 10.28m (35' 0.25"). Ramirez also finished 14
th in the weight throw with a distance of 10.36m (34' 0.00").
Competing in the high jump for the second time in three days, Will finished first overall with a height of 1.73m (5' 8"). She was forced to do a shortened approach based on the layout.
On the track
Anna Lee McGregor finished second overall in a very close 600 yard race. She finished with a time of 1:25.56. Also competing in the event was
Jordan Guerrero who placed third in her section with a time of 1:34.03 which was good enough or 10
th overall.
In the mile run
Lindsey Ragas placed second in her section and was 11
th overall with a time of 5:47,
Lea Rocha was eighth in her section and 18
th overall with a time of 6:21.00.
Maya Cabiness placed fourth in her section, and was ninth overall in the 55m hurdles; she finished with a time of 9:58.
Janesha Anthony placed second overall in the 55m dash, coming in fifth overall was
Brionne Baucham. Anthony clocked in with a time of 7:31, Baucham finished with a time of 7.38.
SF State took first overall in the women's 4x145m relay. The foursome of Anthony,
Hilary King, Baucham and
Angel Hill finished with a time of 75.33. Placing second in their section and seventh overall in the same event was the foursome of
Erica Hayes,
Jordan Guerrero,
Marina Tucker, and
Jazmine Tyler, they finished with a time of 79.64.
In the long jump
Hilary King finished second overall with a distance of 5.45m (17' 10.75"), placing third overall was
Ashley Black jumping a distance of 5.42m (17' 9.50").
Angel Hill placed 11th overall, finishing with a distance of 5.12m (16' 9.75").
