Turlock, Calif. – The SF State track and field team had a banner day at the Stanislaus Open hosted by Cal State Stanislaus at the Al Brenda Track at Warrior Field on Saturday. Six Gators placed first with many others finishing in the top five.

Kareezia Younger,
Angel Hill,
Michelle Chung, and
Alex Jones all took home first place finishes in their respective events for the Gators.
"The relays (sprinters), jumpers, and throwers had very good days," said interim head coach
Tom Lyons. "The distance runners opened up with some good races, and the hurdlers are getting started now too. Overall, this meet was a success for us. We'll continue on with Davis next week and then look forward to some good weather and great marks at Mathis in two weeks when we invite everyone to compete here."
In the women's 100m Anthony took first overall with a time of 12.49. The Gators had a very strong showing in the event, having seven athletes finish in the top-15.
Brionne Baucham placed sixth with a time of 12.72, behind her was
Hilary King with a time of 12.90,
Angel Hill took eighth with a time of 13.24.
"It is really early in the season so I tried to just take the pressure and expectations off myself and just run," said Anthony.
Marina Tucker took 11
th with a time of 13.71,
Erica Hayes came in just behind her with a time of 13.79 which was good enough for 13
th and placing 15
th with a time of 14.04 was
Jordan Guerrero.
Baucham led the way for the Gators in the 200 meter springs. She placed fourth with a time of 25.85. Taking 13
th was
Jazmine Tyler, clocking in at 26.71. The finals only got tighter from there with King finishing 15
th with a time of 26.89,
Kareezia Younger placed 16
th with a time of 26.96, Hill placed 18
th clocking in at 27.03, followed by
Ruth Le Beau at 27.88 n 21
st place and
Marina Tucker at 28.97 which was good enough for 23
rd.
Rocio Pacheco was the only Gator to compete in the 1500 meter race, she placed in 12
th with a time of 5:16.55.
In the 3000 meter race the Gators had three competitors place in the top-15. Leading the way was Lindsay Ragas at ninth with a time of 11:14.31,
Nicole Novales was 10
th with a time of 11:16.09 and in 15
th was Lea Rochca with a time of 12:17.32.
Laura Stokes finished second for the Gators in the 100 meter hurdles, she finished with a time of 15.84.
In the 400 meter hurdle
Ashley Black took home the gold, finishing with a time of 68.21. In second was
Jordan Guerrero with a time of 69.08.
"I started off the day knowing i had a lot of events to get through so I told myself to take it one event at a time and compete," said Black. "Opened up the 400h for the season and got first. Have plenty of room for improvement so I'm excited to see how the season unfolds."
The Gators had two teams competing in the 4x100 meter relay. Team "A" comprised of Anthony, Black, King and Baucham took third with a time of 47.59. The time of 47.59 was the same time the team ran at conference last year when they got second place, and it equels the seventh best time all-time at SF State. Team "B" finished fourth with a time of 50.73 that group consisted of Tucker, Hayes, Tyler and Stokes.
In the 4x400 meter race the Gators squad of Black, Guerrero, Baucham and Stokes took third with a time of 4:00.69. "
Brionne Baucham's 56.6 inspiring third leg brought the team back into the mix. It was a nice finish to a good day for her," said Lyons.
The Gators once again had two competitors place in the top-3 in the high jump. Younger won the event jumping a height of 1.61 meters (5-3.25"). The mark for Younger was a lifetime best and now moves her to 7th all-time at SF State. In third was teammate
Ruth Le Beau who cleared 1.45 meters (4-9").
In the pole vault
Jazmine Tyler tied for fourth with a height of 3.00 meters (9-10"), which moves her to a tie for 7th all-time at SF State.
The long jump was full of Gators in the top-five. Black took first with a distance of 5.26m (17-3.25"), finishing in third was Le Beau with a jump of 5.19m (17-0.50"). In fourth was
Hilary King with a jump of 5.04m (16-6.50") and just behind her, placing fifth was
Angel Hill with a jump of 5.03 meters (16-6.00").
Hill was the only Gator to compete in the triple jump, but she had an outstanding day, taking first with a mark of 10.16m (33-4.00").
"I went in and started with long jump, felt okay in that and by the time triple jump came around I was warmed up and ready to compete," said Hill.
In the throws the Gators owned the day.
Alex Jones won the shot put with a throw of 11.93m (39-1.75"). Taking fifth was
Symone Ramirez with a throw of 10.20m (33-5.75").
Ariana Luster,
Ashley Black and
Ruth Le Beau finished eighth, ninth and 11
th. Luster placed with a toss of 8.49 m (27-10.25"), Black with a throw of 8.16m (26-9.25") and Le Beau with a throw of 7.98m (26-2.25").
Michelle Chung took the discus, with a throw of 37.10m (121-9"). Ramirez placed fourth with a toss of 33.36m (109-05") and Jones was seventh with a throw of 31.02m (101-09").
"The weather was perfect, I was hydrated and overall eager to throw considering how unfortunate the weather and my performance were last weekend," said Chung. "Although I often confuse excitement with nervousness, I knew that this time my nerves were from being excited to perform what I've been doing in practices the past week, which showed a lot of improvement."
In the hammer throw Chung placed second with a 45.15m (148-01") toss. Jones placed sixth with a throw of 35.16m (115-04"). Ramirez placed seventh with a throw of 31.52m (103-05), Luster took 10
th with a throw of 30.04m (98-07").
Wrapping up the day for the Gators was the javelin, where Jenni Albee placed fourth with a throw of 19.84m (65-01).
The Gators will return to action next week when they travel to Davis, Calif., to participate in the Aggie Open.
