San Francisco, Calif. – The second day of the Seventh Annual Distance Carnival hosted by SF State saw several lifetime best performances as the Gators' track and field team posted several impressive results.  Highlighting those efforts was Michelle Chung winning the hammer, Janesha Anthony's second fastest career mark in the 100m sprint and Ashley Black's lifetime best in the 100m hurdles.

"The expansion to two days for the Carnival allowed us to contest all events. It was great for the entire team to be able to compete at home against such a broad range of schools," said interim head coach Tom Lyons. "We welcomed a couple of the top GNAC programs here to compete with our CCAA group. The regional teams along with the mix of athletes from around the country made for an unforgettable inaugural two day meet."

Chung got the day started winning the hammer toss with a throw of 47.80 (156-10) just a few feet shy of her impressive performance at the Johnny Mathis Invitational two weeks ago.  Alex Jones placed seventh in the hammer with a throw of 35.00m (114-10), while Ariana Luster placed eighth with a throw of 29.81m (97-10").

"Michelle was impressive once again in the hammer. Our hurdlers and sprinters got some fast times today too. It was a day for the throwers and sprinter/hurdlers after yesterday's distance and jumps focus."

Continuing in the throwing events, Chung finished the day 11th in the discus with a throw of 37.76 (123-11).  Alex Jones led the Gators in the shot, placing 14th in a talented field, with a throw of 11.61m (38-1.25").

Baucham placed ninth in a very competitive 200m dash, finishing with a time of 25:78.  Kareezia Younger placed 16th crossing the finish line with a time of 26:20, Jazmine Tyler was behind her in 25th with a time of 26.99.
