@SFState_WVB Travels To Face NorCal Foes

SAN FRANCSISCO – The San Francisco State women's volleyball team will pay a pair of road contests this weekend, making a trip up and down Highway-5 to do battle with Chico State and Stanislaus State.  Both matches feature live stats and video.  
 
The Gators enter this week with an overall record of 1-19 and are 0-12 in the CCAA.  Last weekend, the Gators went 0-2 at home against Cal State East Bay and Cal State Monterey Bay.  As a team, the Gators are hitting .127, averaging 10.12 kills per set.  Their opponents are hitting .265 and averaging 14.10 kills per set.
 
Last weekend, the Gators were led by Christine Johnson, who had 23 kills, averaging 3.29 kills per set.  For the year, Johnson has 182 kills, a new career-high. She is averaging 2.76 kills per set which is second on the team.  She also boasts 24 service aces, 144 digs and 27 total blocks.

Who Is Hot
Johnson enters this week red-hot for the Gators.  The junior outside hitter is having a career-year.  Last weekend, she recorded back-to-back double-doubles in the matches against the Pioneers and the Otters.  She now has three in her career, all coming this season.  Over the weekend she tallied 23 kills, averaging 3.29 kills per set, she also had 25 digs, averaging 3.57 digs per set.
 
Home/Road Splits
The Gators return to the road this weekend where they aren't as sharp on the attack.  At the friendly confines, the Gator average 10.54 kills per set, while hitting .147.  On the road, SF State hits .0-88 and average 9.48 kills per set.  The one notable road warrior on the Gators is outside hitter Danielle Ryan.  At home, Ryan averages .81 kills per set, while hitting .081.  On the road, she averages 1.32 kills per set and hits a team-leading .168.

Chico State enters Friday's contest with a 16-5 overall record, and are 10-2 in the CCAA.  They are currently leading the CCAA North Division.  Last weekend, they went 2-0 with road wins over SF State and Stanislaus State.  At home this year they are 7-0 at Art Acker Gymnasium.  They lead the CCAA in both kills per set (14.17) and hitting percentage (.250).
 
Who To Watch
Junior outside hitter Olivia Mediano leads the team with 3.53 kills per set.  Against the Gators she hit .212, recording nine kills and nine digs.  Setter Torey Thompson leads the CCAA averaging 10.84 assists per set, with 791 total assists.

Series Versus The Wildcats
All-time the Gators are 26-43 against Chico State in a series that dates back to the 1977 season when SF State defeated Chico State in straight-sets.  Last season, the Gators and Wildcats split the season series with the road team winning both matches.  These two teams last faced each other last week, when the Wildcats defeated the Gators in straight sets (17-25, 18-25, 15-25) on Oct. 18.

Stanislaus State enter this week with a 9-12 overall record.  In the CCAA they are 6-6 and are currently fourth in the CCAA North Division.  At home, they are 6-4 at the Ed and Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.  Last week, they went 0-2 falling on the road at Sonoma State and Chico State.  As a team, they average 12.71 kills per set which is seventh in the CCAA, they are hitting .188 which is sixth in the conference.
 
Who To Watch
Senior outside hitter Blair Erlich has 331 points on the season.  She has 300 kills, averaging 4.23 kills per set, with 19 service aces and 21 total blocks.  She recorded a double-double against the Gators on Oct. 11 with 18 kills and 10 digs, she hit .368 in the match.
 
Series Versus The Warriors
All-time the Gators are 53-16 against Stanislaus State in a series that dates back to 1976 season.  Last year the Warriors took both halves of the season series sweeping the Gators for the first time since the 2002 season.  These two teams last faced each other on Oct. 11 when the Warriors made it three in a row over the Gators, taking the match 3-0 (13-25, 13-25, 18-25) at The Main Gym at the Don Nasser Family Plaza.
