ALBUQUERQUE – The San Francisco State track & field team completed its first day of action at the Dr. Martin Luther King Collegiate Invitational on Friday, with the Gators competing in five events and breaking multiple program records.
In Weight Throw,
Destiny Mack-Talalemotu placed second overall with a toss of 19.61m, which is a program record for the junior.
Jayme Gonzalez won her Flight with a 16.48m and finished ninth. Alison Sexton recorded a 14.75m and
Courtney Massengale followed with a 14.58m.
Atiya Harvey (24.39) and
Timarya Baynard (24.53) placed ninth and tenth, respectively, in the 200m. Harvey's time bests her previous program-best that she set last season.
Maya Cook followed with a mark of 25.17 and
Jazmine Smith posted a 25.20.
Janelle Bandayrel notched a 25.36 while
Alexis Henry (25.46),
Kennedy Hardemion (25.47) and
Vanessa Koontz (25.63) rounded out the Gator contingent.
Myha Castro placed fourth with a career-best time of 1:36.20 in the 600m, another program best mark, and
Camille Hansen crossed the line shortly after at 1:39.21.
In Long Jump,
Devanique Brown hit a 5.00m and
Kayla Duclayan registered a 4.96m.
NyErin Buckley (4.73m) and
Jayden Dalton (4.71m) placed back-to-back, and
Stephanie Cardenas followed with a 4.32m.
The Gators conclude invite action tomorrow with Shot Put beginning the festivities and the 4x400m relay wrapping things up. Live results will be provided
