SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco State baseball team has had had three players named to the 2019 NCBWA All-NCAA Division II West Region Preseason Team. Middle infielders
Brady Dorn and
Jackson Kritsch have been named to the First Team while outfielder
Jack Harris has been named to the Second Team. The Gators are also receiving votes in the 2019 NCBWA NCAA Division II West Region Preseason Poll.
Dorn was named to three All-West Region Teams a year ago (
ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-West Region First Team,
NCBWA NCAA Division II All-West Region First Team, and the
D2CCA All-West Region Second Team) The
All-CCAA First Team second baseman was fourth in the CCAA in batting (.370) and led the team with 23 walks.
Kritsch became the first-ever San Francisco State baseball player to be named to the
Google Cloud (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Team. He was also named to the
ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division II All-West Region Second Team,
D2CCA All-West Region Second Team, and was an
All-CCAA Second Team Shortstop. The CCAA Championships Scholar Award winner appeared in 51 of the team's 52 games with 50 starts and finished eighth in the CCAA in batting (.362). He also led team in at-bats (207), RBIs (41), runs (45), hits (75), and stolen bases (10).
Harris also garnered
All-CCAA Honorable Mention. As a sophomore, he started all 52 games, led team with nine home runs and a .523 slugging percentage. Harris batted .290/.361/.523 and drew 21 walks, second most on the team.
San Francisco State begins the season at home on Tuesday, February 5 vs. Simpson (NAIA). That weekend, the Gators will host Concordia of Oregon in a three-game series. CCAA action begins February 15 with a four-game series vs. Sonoma State, who finished a game behind the Gators in 2018 and are picked to finish seventh again this season.
