SEATTLE--- The SF State women's indoor track/field team begin its 2014 season this weekend participating in the UW Preview at the Dempsey Indoor Track and Field Complex on the campus of the University of Washington. Leading the way for the Gators was returning All-American Tiana Wills who began where she left off last season. Wills automatically qualified for indoor nationals in March with her mark of 5-10.25 in the high jump.

"Tiana Wills had a great first meet clearing 5'10.75 and getting the automatic nationals qualifier mark," said SF State interim head coach Tom Lyons. "Her three attempts at 6'0.25 were very good as well."

The senior jumper finished in second place in the event at the UW Preview, behind Emma Nuttall's mark of 6-1.25 of Trinity Western.

"Anna Lee McGregor, Michelle Chung and Maya Cabiness had tremendous performances in this opening meet placing very well," added Lyons. "The first meet of the year can be hit or miss for an athlete." "I am happy with how our entire team competed and we are off to a great start."

SF State also received top 15 finishes from Anna Lee McGregor in the 400 meter dash, Maya Cabiness in the 60 meter hurdles and Michelle Chung in the weight throw. McGregor ran a 7^th place time overall and third in her of 57.72 while Cabiness ran a time of 9.06 in the hurdles which placed her second in her heat and 11^th overall. Chung had a mark of 47-7.25, which placed her 11^th in the weight throw.

Among the teams participating in the UW Preview besides the Gators and the University of Washington were: University of Oregon, University of Hawaii, Oregon State University, UC Irvine, Seattle University, Cal State L.A., Seattle Pacific, Eastern Washington, Western Washington, and the University of British Columbia.

SF State will return to the track next weekend when they participate in the two-day Jackson's Indoor Invitational at the Jackson's Indoor Complex in Nampa, Idaho. The invitational will be hosted by Boise State University.
